CDP860 Various tumors Phase II
CMC544 Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma Phase I
Mylotarg Acute myeloid leukemia Market

1. BMS 275291

BMS 275291 is a second-generation selective metalloproteinase inhibitor as an anti-angiogenic approach for cancer.

2. CDP791

CDP 791 is an extremely high-affinity PEGylated humanised antibody fragment directed against a growth factor receptor (GFR). It is believed that antibodies blocking receptors for certain growth factors will be potent inhibitors of angiogenesis, with potential utility for treatment of a broad range of solid tumors when used in conjunction with existing chemotherapeutic regimes.

3. CDP860

CDP 860 is a PEGylated humanised antibody fragment that specifically binds to and blocks the beta receptor for Platelet Derived Growth Factor (PDGF). Recent published research suggests that inhibition of the PDGF beta-receptor may enhance the uptake of chemotherapeutic agents selectively into tumors, potentially enhancing the efficacy of these agents.

4. CMC544

CMC544 is an antibody-cytotoxic conjugate using linker and cytotoxic drug technology similar to that developed for the ground-breaking treatment Mylotarg (gemtuzumab ozogamicin), which was approved by the US FDA in 2000 for the treatment of acute myeloid leukaemia.

5. Mylotarg

Mylotarg (Gemtuzumab ozogamicin) consists of an engineered monoclonal antibody conjugated to a cytotoxic agent, calicheamicin. Current evidence has led to the belief that acute myeloid leukemia (AML) originates from malignant transformation of hematopoietic progenitor cells (which are CD33+), and not the pluripotent stem cells (which are CD33-). The murine humanized monoclonal antibody is directed against CD33, an antigen expressed in approximately 80% - 90% of cases of AML. Calicheamicin is a natural product obtained by fermentation of the organism Micromonospora echinospora ssp. calichensis. Mylotarg has been approved in the US for treatment of patients with AML in first relapse who are 60 years of age or older and who are not candidates for other cytotoxic chemotherapy.

Mylotarg and CMC544 are codeveloped by Celltech and Wyeth.
