1. ABT-263
Bcl-2 proteins play a central role in regulating apoptosis, as well as tumor formation, tumor growth and resistance to cancer treatment. ABT-263 inhibits the function of Bcl-2 proteins and restores programmed cell death, a natural mechanism for the elimination of cancerous cells.
2. ABT-869
ABT-869 is an oral small molecule that provides simultaneously potent and specific inhibition of the VEGFR and PDGFR families.
3. ABT-888
DNA damaging agents remain some of the most successful treatments for cancer. The enzyme Poly(ADP-ribose)polymerase (abbreviated PARP) can help repair DNA damage caused by these agents used to treat cancer and render them ineffective. ABT-888 is an oral PARP-inhibitor developed by Abbott researchers to prevent DNA repair in cancer cells and increase the effectiveness of common cancer therapies such as radiation and alkylating agents.
4. PathVysion
The PathVysion human epidermal growth factor receptor-2 (HER-2) DNA Probe Kit from Vysis® is a FDA approved assay that utilizes patented, direct labeled fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) DNA probes to yield definitive results at the molecular level. FISH uses molecular genetic techniques to create a fluorescent DNA probe that produces a bright microscopic signal when it selectively attaches to the gene specific complementary DNA. A different DNA probe attaches itself to the chromosome 17 centromere. The signals appear as orange and green fluorescent colors for the HER-2 gene and chromosome 17. This enables a ratio of HER-2 to chromosome 17 signals to be calculated thereby correcting for aneuploidy of chromosome 17, which may not represent an amplified state. Through this direct labeled FISH technology, the PathVysion HER-2 assay provides the most accurate, reliable and reproducible means for assessing HER-2 status in breast cancer.
5. Vysis Urovysion
New clinical data, as well as recent studies, have demonstrated that DNA probe-based tests can be diagnostically and clinically powerful tools for the detection of genetic abnormalities in bladder cells that are indicative of cancer. The Vysis UroVysion Bladder Cancer Recurrence Kit is the first DNA probe-based test to directly examine bladder cell DNA for signs of cancer. It employs FISH technology, which uses small, fluorescent-labeled DNA molecules (probes) to make visible (with a microscope) specific regions of DNA in your cells.
